For love....forever.

Today is a very special day for my family. It's the day that would have seen my Dad celebrate both his 71st birthday and my parents 50th wedding anniversary. My parents got married on my Dad's 21st birthday and were married for 17 happy years, until he died suddenly one morning in September 1976 at the age of 38. That day changed our family forever, and we never fully recovered. None of us....my mum who was only 36 yrs old was left to raise my 16yr old brother, my 14yr old sister, and me...I was 4yrs old. It's been a long 33 years with out him, a lifetime for me really, and we miss him every single day. So this post is for my parents, together and apart, forever held together from the heart. Happy 71st birthday Dad, I'm looking forward to seeing you again one day......and Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary to them both. Today I will be spending the day with my mum. We'll go and put some flowers on Dad's grave, and then I'll take her somewhere nice to spoil her for her would be anniversary. We'll be a little sad, but we'll be ok because we have each other and some wonderful memories to comfort us and see us through. The FOOTPRINTS poem always helps me too.....

My parents....Graham 21yrs old and Gabrielle 19yrs old. So happy & in love....

My beautiful mum....

My Dad. A man I barely got the chance to know, but love with all of my heart...

and I know he loved me too....

Wishing you all a lovely day, one full of love and laughter and happiness......and family....because they are everything.

Love Amanda xxx

What a loving tribute to your parents. I'm sure your dad is so proud of the love and support you have continued to show your mom through the years. I just bet he's watching over both of you, now and forever always.

Happy Anniversary Mom & Pop Australia!! May you have an eternity in the celestial kingdom!

And.. Happy Birthday Pops!

Amanada, what a wonderful daughter to remember your parents in the height of happyness rather than the gloom of what could've been. I too struggle with that still today.

Hold on to the good memories you do have no matter how few and i hope you and your mum had a wonderful day!!

What a beautiful post. I am so touched by the love you share with your mom for this wonderful man. God wanted him back early, so he must have been very missed in heaven. Your mom is a stunning woman!

Your parents were a beautiful couple! You can see the joy and love on their faces! What precious memories. My mom died when she was 58 and it was the saddest day of my life. I take great joy and love celebrating her memory and I look forward also to the day I will see her again:)

Because, when we come down to it, family is the biggest blessing of all. This post warmed my heart. Your beautiful parents and their brief but beautiful marriage. I loved seeing your pictures and reading your thoughts. Happy memories to you and your mom.
