All done!

well almost all done! I am still fluffing with the little things like looking for just the right cushions to add to the bedding etc, but for the most part the room make over is complete......finally! Firstly just let me thank you all for your well wishes and your prayers for my knee and back. On the first day my knee was really sore, but the pain completely went away after that and never returned! I was thinking to myself as I was painting "I just know my wonderful blogland friends are all praying for me, I just know it!". My back was really sore though and felt like it was going to snap in half most of the time, but it's good now after resting. Now, before we get to the photo's just let me explain that we didn't choose the original paint colours for our bedroom (the purple & yellow) they were freshly painted when we bought the house. We had always planned to repaint, but outside renovations and putting in a pool sort of took priority, so we made the best of it until now when we got the chance to finally repaint. I really have to thank all of you dear ladies out there for inspiring me. I look at your beautiful blogs and see you all doing these fabulous things to your homes and it gave me the courage to have a go at it too. Once again I gave myself a budget and enjoyed the challenge of sticking to it. The total cost for the bedroom re-do was $600 and that includes paint, curtains and blind, a new bed base (kept our mattress as it was still very good) and mostly all new (newly thrifted) furniture. I'll walk you through the photo's now ok...

Before bedroom......EEK & ICK!

After bedroom......hopefully not eek & ick?! lol

The furniture that I bought from thrift stores and garage sales, in their before state......

This set of drawers is really sturdy and good quality, so they were just repainted white as you'll see in another photo further down...

just to show you the drawers before.....

the painted chair ($15) teemed with a small iron garden table. Now I can sit here with my laptop or a magazine and day dream out the window....

The repainted set of drawers, and a thrifted mirror ($9). The mirror is very heavy metal with roses and leaves scrolling around the glass, and was an icky old cream colour, so a coat of white paint and it's good to go...

This darling little side table ($25) captured my heart that day I went for a drive to the Bay. It was a really dirty yellow/cream colour, but I knew those gorgeous little legs would look beautiful repainted white. And a new handle too!

This little side table ($8) with the lamp on it has such a lovely leg/stand. I love it! The bed base was also bought on the drive to the Bay. It is brand new, but it's a factory second because it had a scratch along the top of it. That didn't worry me since I knew I would be sanding and painting it away! A bargain for $295, and it has my favourite flower (Tulips) carved out in the headboard!

Sweet little 3 tired stand ($8) with banker green leather shelf inserts. Not sure what to put on this shelf unit yet, so jewelry & perfume on here for now.

So that's it! That's what I've been up to this week. My Princess is also on school holidays right now, so we've been running around keeping busy doing all sorts of fun things, and this weekend is shaping up to another hectic social event too! I will be fully back on deck on Monday and heading around to visit with you all then. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and again, thank you all so much for your prayers and your friendship. You'll never know just how much it means to me. Love Amanda xxx

Aah, Amanda. This was so worth the wait. You've done a masterful job.

Do you just go to the door and stand and gaze upon your new room? I do that. Everytime I do something new I just keep going back to look at it and enjoy.

Don't you just love doing this!? It's so creative and then you get to live in it and enjoy the loveliness. I like your all-white theme, it's light and simple, and the color you add really pops. That little sidetable with the curved legs is my favorite of your finds - and the tulip headboard.

You worked magic here Amanda - what a makeover, looks fabulous!! I love the clean, cottagey look - know you will enjoy relaxing at that little table in the afternoon with a book and a cuppa, and resting snuggled up at night. The furniture all looks wonderful. On the shelf I see Eliz. Arden's Red Door - my favorite too!

What's the next project going to be after your poor back heals? I need to repaint my entry/hall - a small job but just can't seem to get around to it - will wait now until some cooler days arrive, it's so hot here.

Enjoy looking at your handiwork - it's a great feeling isn't it?
Hugs - Mary.

I absolutely love it! I usually do a different color on every wall ... but now I am thinking that I want to do EVERYTHING the same color because it looks GREAT in your room.

I really love it.

It also inspires me to thrift .. . because I haven't done it with furniture before, but look how nice that furniture looks after you re-did it! Wow! How on earth did you finish ALL of that in ONE WEEK?!?!?

Just super.

Thanks for sharing.

Now YOU are one of the ladies who is inspiring ME. :D
