Ho! Ho! Ho?

Last week when we were all sick with the flu I got restless just laying around resting, especially knowing that I had some projects that I wanted done ASAP! So I headed off to my local thrift stores in search of something I could use as a sofa table. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted, but I knew I would know it when I saw it.....and when I did see the perfect thing I pounced like a Ninja! SOLD to the crazy excited lady with the wild blonde hair, bad cough and tissues flying everywhere! lol

And here she is.......what a beauty in disguise! It's actually a dressing table, and came with this huge lovely shaped mirror that I've re-done and will hang in Princess's bedroom (will show you that another post). I really wanted something that had draws so that I could use them as my filing cabinet. For years I have been using a huge old cedar chest as my filing cabinet, but that's all been re-organised, the chest moved up to the shed, and this sofa table is the new filing cabinet (will show all that in another post too...lucky you! Not. lol)

I wanted something that was solid wood, sturdy, and had an old classic shape to it. I was pretty happy when I started taking it a part to clean, sand and paint and found this sticker inside leading me to believe that is indeed of good quality.

Here she is.....all pretty with her new coat of paint. I kept the same handles because they were still good, and I liked them.

Then Princess and I carried her inside and stood back looking at her thinking about how we should decorate her? I decided that since it isn't Fall over here, nor do we celebrate Thanksgiving in OZ, that I may as well start decorating for Christmas since I love the holiday season so much. So here she is in all her glory! What do you think, pretty good for a thrift shop score?

Total project cost $60. The cabinet cost $60 and even though I thought that was a bit steep for a thrift store, it was really strong and good quality, so I was happy to pay that considering what a sofa table would have cost brand new. The paint I already had, so it only took me a day of messy work to get the end result! Next post I will show you the most darling little table make over!

Wishing you all a wonderful day......Love Amanda xxx
