Getting all gussied up for Christmas!

Hi ladies! How are you all today? My goodness the days are just zipping on by aren't they?! This weekend we are hosting our annual family Christmas party for 40 adults and about a dozen children. Each year we throw a Christmas party here at Jacaranda Cottage for our family which everyone looks forward to each and every year. My husband dresses up as Santa and our daughter dresses up as an Elf and they hand presents out to each and every person at the party. Everyone has to come up and sit on Santa's knee and have their photo taken with Santa as well. Everyone has a good laugh and believe it or not, the adults look forward to this party as much as the children do! lol

So all this week I have been/am cleaning and preparing our little cottage for the Christmas party. Having people over makes you do the things that you want to do but don't get a chance to........like recovering chairs!

For my former office set up I wanted a pink gingham covered chair. So I painted the chair white and recovered the seat with this lovely gingham fabric......

after having it with the gingham look for almost a year, I've tired of that and decided it was time for a make over.....

I unscrewed the chair seat off and dug around in my husband's shed to find the staple gun......

then I hunted through my fabric stash and found some toile fabric. This piece of fabric is actually a toile table cloth. It was much cheaper to buy a toile table cloth than to buy toile fabric off the roll. How crazy is that?! So like any sane and thrifty shopper..........I bought a heap of table cloths!

all I had to do then was cut out a piece of fabric big enough to cover and fold underneath....then I remembered to iron the fabric this time. Last time I didn't iron the fabric because I didn't think it was all that creased, but the creases didn't pull out when I stretched the fabric like I thought they would, and they drove me nuts everytime I looked at the chair!

bang bang bang with the staple gun and........tada!

a new toile covered chair to suit my new roll top office table! yay! My faithful assistant, Miss LuLu La Rue, had to check things out of course....

to see if my handy work was worth her paw of approval......

and then deciding upon her verdict..........

her royal majesty did indeed give me her blessing...........lol

Wishing you a wonderful day!

Love Amanda and LuLu xxx

Amanda, your party sounds like so much fun. I'll be thinking of you.

I love the toile. I can see why Miss Lulu gave it the paw of approval.
