A Birthday Give Away!

Well, it's THAT time of year again. You know the one, where you look back over the last 12 months and realize that you are suddenly another year older! On Saturday 7th Feb I will turn 37 yrs old. 37!! When did THAT happen??? (My mother would also like an answer to that question! lol) I can barely stand the thought of looking into the mirror and facing more grey hairs and wrinkles, but to make it a little easier on my poor old self I have decided to have a give away! Why not share the pain, er, I mean the love?! lol So.... that's right ladies, it may be my birthday but YOU my dear bloggy friends, will be getting the gift!

When we were away on holiday, (I know, I still have to post holiday photo's. I'm getting old remember and my brain just isn't what it was 'cause I keep forgetting! lol) I did a little shopping and found what I thought would be a perfect gift for YOU....

All you have to do to enter to win this gorgeous "Miss M" toile handbag is leave a comment telling me a story about YOUR most memorable birthday. I really want to hear from you all telling me about something that happened to YOU on your birthday that made it memorable. Whether your story is happy or sad, good or bad, funny, touching, or just plain crazy, then I'd love to hear it. I will have my family read the entries with me and help me to draw a winner. I'm going to leave this post up for a week to give people enough time to cruise on over to my blog and enter, and because I may not get another chance to post again this week.

So until this time next week...........I'll see you when I'm a little older, and hopefully wiser too! lol

Love Amanda xxx

Happy Birthday to you! I think you will age well - each little wrinkle is a wonderful life story and is a badge of honor. :)

My Birthday story:
What first comes to mind is when I was a little girl in China. It was during war time, my parents were missionaries, and there was no money for gifts. My doll was old and the face was crackling. So for my birthday, my Dad repainted the doll's face and my Mom made a new dress for it. She also made a little cuddly blanket. It looked like a brand new dolly and I loved it!

Have a wonderful birthday!

Happy birthday!!! I hope it is magical for you!! Mine are always memorable, but in a way you would love to forget. I refer to my birthday as cursed. Really, it is. One year I got so sick and my fever got so high, my mother had to call our pastor over to get me into the bath. I couldn't even sit up. Other birthdays, I have been involved in car accidents. They were never my fault. One year, my husband (then my fiance) sprained his ankle. I took him to the Dr. and we went to go get the prescription. Going down one of the lanes to park, I stopped to turn. Once I stopped, a van started to back up into me. They hit me, while I was at a dead stop. The bad part was that the guy who hit me was the nephew of my friend who had just died. I didn't realize it until his mother called and said she remembered my name on the visitors book for her brother's viewing. Yes, I no longer drive on my birthday. That was the worst. Now mostly things get broken on my birthday. The kids will be playing ball in the house and then.... BAM!! Another vase bites the dust!! :) I am a lot more used to it now. I pack away all valuables the night before and order in all day. That seems to work... :) I hope your birthday is less eventful. :)

Good morning Amanda, I loved being 37. I was pregnant with my second daughter that year. My birthday, being at the beginning of July is always a family bar b que...always!!! My favorite was when I was 10 years old. My parents took me to dinner in New York city. Just me and not my siblings (2 sisters and 2 brothers). They took me to Trader Vic's and I ate lobster thermidor and drank my first virgin pina colada. It was magical. It really started me on the taste for the exotic and gave me a desire to try new and different things. Since then, we are back to the bar b ques....which is not a bad thing.
I hope that your birthday this year will be exotic and wonderful.
♥, Susan

Happy birthday, your still a youngster!
What a great gift for a giveaway.
I guess my most memorable bday was my 30th when I had a surprise party thrown by my lil' sis.

Happy Birthday, Amanda!
I've had lots of birthdays, but the most memorable was my 60th. We went to the lake, with our eldest daughter, to see some condos. J and I were very tentative about the purchase of a
2nd home. We looked at condos all one weekend and our daughter counseled us...ummm....errr....uh talked us into signing for the condo. We've never regretted the purchase of our lake getaway. That was the week of my 60th b'day in July 2003.

Happy Birthday Cupcake Contessa!

My birthday story: When I turned 16 my sister took me to the library. It made no sense to me but I wasn't suspicious either.
When we got home, she made me come into the house through the FRONT door ... we never use the front door. It's for company. But in I went and the friends jumping up from behind the sofas to surprise me REALLY did just that. I was SO SHOCKED. My family never did stuff like that. We had a pool party, a barbecue, games, and my sister made a cake out of sugar wafers ... the long rectangular ones which she built into a castle. It was super cool. Even though my crush, DP, wasn't there.

p.s. Happy Australia Day, and great thrifting and I love the computer desk make over.
Do you know ... we went to the mountains last weekend and a lady and her husband and daughter had a very cute, very beloved dog (Cocoa chanel) and I told them about Paris Fifi and how wonderful she was. They extended their sympathies as well. I miss that little girl. What a cutie she was.

Well firstly, happy birthday from one February girl to another.

Secondly, my most memorable birthday. I would have to say all of them. Why? Well I have the honour, or is that misfortune? of being born on the 29th of February, yes, I'm a leap year baby. But last year on my 44th/11th birthday i was totally spoilt by my good friends and loving family. My youngest daughter even organised a surprise dinner for me which was attended by my eldest daughter who drove 9hrs just to spent the evening with us all. I was just blown away, i was treated like a queen. I've never had a party or a surprise dinner in my life and I've never received as many gifts as I did last year. But truly love and family are the greatest gifts.

I love having a 'real' birthday because i kind of feel ripped off every other year, even though people wish you a happy birthday and give you gifts it just doesn't feel real. Not that I'm going to knock back presents, I'm all for that!

So at the end of this month I'll celebrate my 11 and 1/4 birthday. Only 3 more years til I get a real one.

I hope you have a wonderful day, Happy Birthday and all the best.

Happy Birthday Amanda! You are still young my dear because in a short while I will be 49, so 37 just can't be old. lol My most memorable birthday was when I turned 47. I was holding my sweet baby girl (4 months old) and being sung "Happy Birthday" to by my wonderful husband before I blew out the candles on a Boston Cream pie that he bought me. I thought, "Wow life is really good and God has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams!"

You will think I am crackers when I tell you what happened on my 50th birthday. It is in the middle of Summer and I had a family party at my house. We were all wandering around the garden and I happened to look in the pond and noticed that there was a newt in there. You couldn't have given me a better present, I was over the moon!! Sad or what?

Hi Amanda and Happy Birthday. It is a long time ago since my 37th birthday but my 50th was very special. It was not long after we had moved to Australia from NZ and my eldest son was still living in NZ at that stage. He surprised me with a special visit just for me on my birthday which of course meant SO much as I had my whole family together for my big day. Now, almost a decade on, I still have very happy memories of that occasion.

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! 37? Oh my, i wish i was 37 again lol!!!! Since my birthday falls so close to Thanksgiving, we have never really celebrated it. Hubby has run a grocery store for the past 30 years and thats a busy season for him...he is nice enough to bring me home a pumpkin pie every year to celebrate quietly though!!! Maybe next year we can do Disney! Hope you have a wonderful birthday...although i always wondered, why does the person BORN get the cake and gifts, and not the person who BORE them!!! Think of how many presents we could get if we had alot of kids LOL LOL!!!!!!

Happy Birthday!!! I think you're beautiful inside AND out Amanda :)

My birthday...

The first year I was dating Rich and even though he didn't have much money he took me on a dinner cruise around the Virginia Beach bay. I've always wanted to go on one and had said as much on our first date, not realizing that he would actually go through the trouble of surprising me and even making sure my mom could watch the kids. It goes down as one of my all time favorite birthdays :)

I hope you have a wonderful day today.

hugs,
rue

Happy Birthday, Amanda!! You are still just a babe at a mere 37 ;-)

On my 25th Birthday, my boyfriend took me to a wonderful little Italian restaurant. At the end of the meal, the waiter brought over a dozen roses that my sweet date had there waiting for me and the little band played Happy Birthday to me. Later we took a drive and went up to the Mountain Campus of the college we both graduated from. We spread out a quilt on the front lawn of a little stone chapel and as we sat there gazing up at the stars, he turned to me and said, "Rhonda, will you make me the happiest man in the world?" As he took a little black box out of his pocket he asked me to marry him. Needless to say, I said yes....
And they lived happily ever after.

Have a great birthday!
My birthday story:
When I was about to turn 30, my husband asked me what i wanted for my day. I told him I wanted him to write me a love letter. Between diapers and chores and busy life it felt like we didn't communicate like that anymore. He paused,"I'm not so sure I ahve anything to say--can't I just buy you something??" I persisted. He wanted the easy way out! We never spoke about it again and I was under the impression it wasn't going to happen.
Imagine my surprise when I opened my eyes on my birthday morning to fine love notes everywhere! On my dresser, in the kitchen, in the bath, even attached to the steering wheel of my car for my way to work! Each one had a loving memory of a time we had together. I collected all of them throughout the day (there was even one in the refrigerator at dinnertime!) and kept them all...and when I turned 40 I told him I wanted the same thing. No protesting then, just a smile...
