Times, they're a changin'!

While we were away I couldn't stop thinking of all the little projects that I wanted to get done this year, so I thought I may as well get started on one on our first week back! On Saturday I changed around and revamped a couple of little office spaces in our home. We have one computer set up in the study that my husband uses for work, and we have another computer set up in the family room that I mainly use (Precious Princess has her own laptop, so yippeeeeee for me I don't have an impatient teen pacing behind me waiting to get online! lol)

Anyway, I wanted to change my little computer area to something a little lighter, brighter and prettier.........

Here is my little computer area before...

This table is ok when just one person is using it, but when you have a family dumping all their things on it as they walk by.......ugh!

Here is my new lighter, brighter and hopefully prettier computer area. The desk is an old one that Princess used to use. This desk was bought from a neighbour's garage sale many years ago, it was grey then, so I painted it white and painted little butterflies and fairies and unicorns on top for Princess. She used to love to sit at this desk in her bedroom and do her homework when she was little. (Now she props herself up at the kitchen bench with her ipod in her ear! lol)

Now I have a little more room on my table for the things I like to have around me. My husband looked at the table and asked me why I would want a bigger desk if I was just going to fill it up with junk? JUNK!!?? Did he say junk??!! He's recovering nicely now, thanks for asking...

Truth be told, I would actually like to eventually replace this desk with something more dainty, something with lovely curvy legs, but for now it gives me the quick change I needed until I can find something I really love.

I am really happy with how the chair turned out. I bought this chair from another neighbour's garage sale a few years ago, and it went well with the old computer table, but not with the white look I want now. So I painted it white, added a couple of new little pointy tips to the top of it, and recovered the seat. Much better!

Do you remember last week when I went thrifting and scored all of those darling little treasures from the last post? Well I also found this tiny little table while I was there. I thought it would be cute.....

all painted white, with new crystal draw knobs and a sweet little black & white tassel! Now I have something more attractive to sit the printer on than a filing cabinet. Ick! Now don't get me wrong, I think traditional office furniture is great....in an office/study, but not in my family room!

So there you go. A quick one day make over that cost very little. All I bought was the last little set of draws, and some handles. The rest I already had around the house. I love projects like that, don't you!?

Wishing you all the happiest of days! Love......Amanda xxx

Yep....it is me again. See what happens when I am gone for so long....I guess I could just write you one big lone note covering all of your posts...but this is so much more fun! Does this make me a stalker, lol!!! Amanda, your new white desk is just darling and so perfet for you. I would have so much more fun sitting there writing out bills in such a lovely spot..anything to make paying bills a little less painful! You did a gorgeous job! Did you ever finish that dresser you bought that you were going to use as a sofa table behind your sofa? I know you said you had some fun ideas for that.

Hope this finds you having a beautiful Australian day! So sad to hear about all those fires burning. I hope you are safely away from all of that.
