Happy Father's Day! One True Love is en route to the airport as we speak! Oh happy, happy day! Since he can't be with us this Father's Day, I'll just leave him a little surprise on this here fledgling blog............
What can I say about One True Love? I can tell you that he's a good man. An honest man. A man who adores his family. A hard working man. A man who thrives on a challenge. I can also tell you that he is with out a doubt, the funniest man I have ever met! He's kind. He's compassionate. He's a brilliant Engineer. He's full of knowledge on so many different topics. He just amazes me. He loves his girls, and we love him. Luckily for Precious Princess, he's also an adventurous Dad. The photo's I've added of One True Love & Precious Princess, are of them together during different family holidays. Snorkeling together 60 kms out to sea, off the Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia. Horse riding together through the High Country, Victoria, Australia. We love him very much and hope his Father's Day is a calm and safe one as he travels home to us. Love you Daddy xxxxxx
The next man I'd like to honour is my Dad. I don't have a lot of first hand knowledge of him because he died when I was 4 yrs old, but from what family & friends tell me, he was a wonderful man. I think one of my aunts sums it up completely when she says, "the room came alive when your father walked in." I've been told that he was a strong man, a man very confident and self assured. A leader. A brilliant and honest business man, he was head of a multi national company by the time he died at the age of 38yrs. He was also the BEST dancer. Swinging away in the 1950's to Elvis' "Blue Suede Shoes" was a favourite thing to do. I really don't remember much of him myself, but I love him dearly. I miss him. I'm proud that he was My Dad.
Last but certainly not least, is my Uncle. This very special man has been married to one of my mum's sisters for well over 50yrs now. He has always been a father figure for me, and to me. I can count on him. I trust in him. I know that if he tells me something, then it is true. He's honourable, he's sweet and kind, he's so dang funny too! Not only has he been a great Dad to his own 4 children, Grandfather & now Great-Grandfather, but he's also been a great Dad to me. All the silly little father's day things I'd make at school, that were clumsily handed to him from my chubby little hands, were always accepted into his big strong hands with much love & gentleness. I know he doesn't like all the mushy stuff, but if you're reading this Uncle, I just want to thank you for being you, and for loving me.
It also just so happens to be Uncle's birthday today too. Happy Birthday & Happy Father's Day!
So, they are the men I love. They are my rocks, my anchors. They encourage me to swim the tides of life, to explore, but when it gets choppy out there, they are my refuge, my safe place to be. My protectors. My Nara's Inlet (that one's for you Uncle!).
