Winter in the country.....

Hello ladies! I hope you're all having a terrific week and a lovely day so far. Today's post is going to be quite picture heavy, but hey, that's ok right? Right! The photo's are from our drive in the country over the long weekend last weekend, and will be done as a 2 part series. Before we get started I just wanted to thank those of you who gave us some wonderful puppy training advice on our darling little LuLu La Rue. All I can say is that we're getting there......2 steps forward, 3 steps back, but getting there! Also, just a quick reminder that if you would like to enter my little giveaway from the post below, it's not too late. The winner will be drawn on Sunday. Ok, enough gas bagging, let's get on with our winter day in the country...

On the road and leaving home.....such gorgeous weather we're having!

on the open highway....

These are some of the antics that happen in the back seat.....

until we fall asleep! LuLu is such a good traveler, and so she should be since she's out and about with me every day!

passing an Emu farm. Hello Mr Emu, sorry to disturb......

little old cemetary......

driving through the town of Toowoomba. I loved the bare winter trees......

rocketing on by a church......my One True Love was driving....the world was a blur! lol

Driving through the tiny town of Drayton we stopped at this charming place....

At first I thought the place was really old, but from reading this rock in the garden, it was opened in 1988. Still, I thought it was a beautiful spot....

I thought the building itself was just gorgeous. I'm not sure what it's used for anymore, but from peeping through the windows (yes people, I'm a peeper!) it looks like it could be a restaurant maybe. Dunno really, but I liked it.

LuLu liked it too........

Rounding the back I found this charming little garden.....

I was half expecting something magical to happen while I was there.....

so I waited...

and waited...

got tired from waiting and sat down.....

until I got a holler over the fence from my ever so romantic husband to shake my tail feather and get in the car. Goodbye quaint little garden gate.....must make mental note to ask husband to build me a white picket fence this coming summer.....

on the road....again

stopped at a sweet little plant stall......

and made our way to the tiny town of Allora where we stopped for morning tea...

after a quick walk around town, and quick it was because we were FREEZING! lol

country post office.....

I love country post offices. There's something about them that's just so lovely....

a little cottage next door to the post office. I wonder if the post master lives there? I know I'd like to......

sitting in a cafe having morning tea and looking across the street at 2 of the pubs in town......

I love the wide streets and the look of little country town pubs.....

I love lots of little things about the country....

and a drive around town......

before we left......

to see some delightful little old homes....

and as we headed off to Warwick.....

we saw this beautiful old church....

so lovely and peaceful.....

I hope you've enjoyed the tour so far. I'll be posting part 2 on Sunday after doing a Pink Saturday post with our lovely Beverly from How Sweet The Sound on Saturday. Until then, have a great day all!

Lots of love............Amanda xxx

Thanks for the amazing tour Amanda! It looks so beautiful there. It looks like a little village. It's funny to hear you say it was cold. The pictures make it look like it was HOT. Those blue skies are gorgeous. We rarely get blue skies like that in the winter here. Lots of rain and gray skies. Have a loveleigh day, sending you hugs from across the ocean...

Thanks for taking us on such a great drive! You are also making me an Alan Jackson fan. I never was into country music before.

ooooooooooooooooooohhhh!!!

That WAS a treat!!!

I LOVED LOVED LOVED that you included pictures of the highway! You have a grass divider between your roads, separating the two directions.

In town and near town we have no dividers except cement walls down the center of the freeway and sometimes planters down the middle of the street ... but we DO have the same grass divider when we are on the interstate. But our interstate is about 3 or four lanes wide in most places. Two for driving ... one on each side for overheating cars/engine trouble and what not.

Great post. Great buildings. Great photos. I'm such a happy visitor. Nice.
