Don't blow away Mia BonBon!

Oh my goodness, it's been a wild old day in the tropics today! This morning I got up, got all of my chores done, fed the pets, and prepared to start baking up a storm when.....poof! The power went out. Ok.....humph. Resort to Plan B......twiddle thumbs in agitation until power resumes. Check. Then after an hour the power came back on, so I wasted no time and got down to some serious baking! While I was standing at the kitchen window mixing a batch of muffins, I looked out to see this eerie looking yellow cloud approaching our house. So like a good and faithful blogger I sent my dear daughter and little Mia BonBon out into the gale (well, a slight breeze ok) and asked her to take some photo's for her ol' mumma's blog. LuLu and I stayed inside and kept on a mixin......

Finally Princess and Mia BonBon blew back in and these are the photo's she took for me to share with you......

I know it looks like a sunset, but it's a dust storm.....

which thankfully is a rarity in my neck of the woods!

Even though we had all the doors and windows closed all day, the dust still filtered in.......

and now our little Jacaranda Cottage looks like the moon landing. Great, just great.

So you just know what I'll be up to tomorrow don't you? lol

Wishing you all a happy...and dust free day!

Love Amanda and her dust covered girls xxxxx

We don't have these here. It sounds like it will be a mess to clean up for sure. I guess you're just thankful it wasn't something worse Mother Nature has to offer.

I have never been in a dust storm but since I have asthma that is a good thing. We don't have dust storms but we do have tornadoes and lots of winter storms. Hope you are safe. Dianntha

Glad to hear you and yours are safe..what a site that was on our news channel...positively frightening! The one time I saw the skies like that, we had a fire in the canyon and it was burning just the other side of the creek that runs in front of our cottage...very, very scary to me even without the fire.

I just remembered this magazine I check out at the library..it's called "The Bark". I don't know if you can get it there...it's based here in California. In each issue is anything you could ever want to know/buy for a dog, but my favorite part are the two full pages of 'smiling dogs"...honest to goodness they are all so cute, they could put a smile on anyone! So I got online and here you go...
http://thebark.com/content/smiling-dogs
