It's Winter!!!

Woo Hoo! Today is Sunday June 1st and it's the official start of Winter! Yay! If you've been reading this blog for a while (at least through our loooooong hot Aussie Summer) you will know just how excited I am to finally have Winter here! So to celebrate that, I thought I would take you on a tour of my Mum's house. We went over there this morning to help her move some furniture around, so naturally I pulled out my little pink camera and got to clicking! lol I didn't take photo's of all the rooms in the house, just some of the areas or things that I liked, plus it's a very large home so this post would have gone on forever, and I do tend to ramble on enough as it is! Ok here we go...

Hello and welcome...

front entrance...

dining room...

this tapestry was a gift for my mum from a friend...

this hand painted tablecloth was also a gift and is older than me!

the kitchen, it also has a nice big walk in pantry (lucky her, I want one!)

casual loungeroom just off the dining room...

off the dining room...

out through the entertainment area to the pool...

looking over the back yard garden...

around the pool...

Paris Fifi (yes the whole family went over to visit!) & the bird bath...

low maintenance back yard...

lovely garden...

Mr Owl standing guard...

just some random flowers...

rooster wind pointer thingy-ma-bob...

last but not least is this darling little birds nest nestled in a lemon tree. Can you see that sweet little bird in there? One click and she flew the coop! lol

I hope you enjoyed this little tour, and are having a lovely weekend too. I'm off now to snuggle in under my favourite blanket and read some decorating magazines for the afternoon! *sigh* I love Winter... Love Amanda xxx

Amanda, Your mother's home is simply gorgeous. I'm sitting here in bed with my lap top, next to my snoring hubby. He has the radio playing tropical fun music. It fits perfectly with your pictures. This is fun. I feel like I've been to Disney Land and gone swimming on a beautiful day just from visiting your blog. I hope you are feeling better. Good night dear friend. Kathi

I'm so glad to read your post because I can tell you are feeling so much better.

Your mother's home reminds me so much of where I grew up. I love the bright yellows she has, and that tapestry is beautiful.

We had orchid trees in South Florida. Do you have those there?

Your Mother's entrance is magical! Just calling to you to enter this tropical oasis.

I am glad you are getting a much needed break in temps. Just curious......what are you winter temps like? I imagine with all that lush tropical vegetation, it just couldn't got too low. Do get in the 40's at night ever? Sorry don't know what the centigrade equivalent is .....I will have to look that up!

Enjoy Winter! ((hugs)) Rosie

What a lovely home. I love love LOVE that she used such a wonderful bright yellow on those walls.

Thanks for the lovely tour.

(I especially enjoyed seeing the plants outside. It seems to me that there are lots of desert type plants in Australia, and not so many ... I don't know ... rain foresty? plants? but I enjoy succulents so I enjoyed seeing these.)

Is your leg still all better?

Hugs!
