Much ado about houses...

...well, about birdhouses and light houses at least. I was just pottering around (I seem to potter a lot I've noticed....hhhmmm) dusting, vacuuming......you know, the usual self inflicted torture......and I noticed that with out knowing it I seem to have a little collection starting with birdhouses and light houses. When I was a little girl I always wanted to live in a light house, and I just love the house from the remade version of the movie "Yours, Mine & Ours" with Dennis Quaid. Love that light house and the house! So yes I have taken photo's to share with you all (aren't you lucky? Don't answer that. lol) I hope your day is rolling along in a much more thrilling manner than mine. Now I'm off to flick some more dust around in a haphazard sort of fashion.....cough cough.

Newly thrifted birdhouse....$3...bargain!

Birdhouse picture next to the back door.

Birdhouse cushion bought from a lovely little gift store in the country.

My beautiful daughter made these little heart shaped door hangers for me out of birdhouse material and they're hanging on the kitchen pantry doors now.

I fell totally in love with this light house picture years ago, and still love it. It sits right above my office table so I can daydream...

This light house lamp was a gift from a nephew many years ago.

Tiny little thrifted light house.....a 50 cent bargain!

Shelf next to my office table. I wonder if they make light house shaped telephones??

Light house cushion also bought on a country drive one day.

Thrifted light house frame that was made over to suit the hallway make over.

I think birdhouses and lighthouses are wonderful items to have around and they make you smile.

And, you shared your smile with us through your words and pictures.

Happy dusting. ;-)

Your collections are adorable. I am a particular fan of birdhouse, too! Although I have just recently started to collect them.

Speaking of dust.....Hubby and I gave the new chipper a 2 hour workout yesterday. It ran like a dream. However, even with using the collection bag, we were covered in dust! A shower never felt so good :-)

Hope you week is sparkly! ((hugs)) Rosie

I am a lighthouse/bird house girl too! ALTHOUGH, a couple of years ago during a what can only be called a moment of madness, I got rid of all my birdhouses! I had about 20 or so of them sprinkled around! *sigh* I truly have regretted that! Now I've started collecting again.
My husband is orginally from the New Jersey shore and he loves light houses also. Anything to do with the beach makes him happy!

Amanda, I love your collection of birdhouses and lighthouses! My oldest daughter has a collection of lighthouses. J and I have visited a few lighthouses in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and North Carolina...and one right here in Missouri. I love them and believe it would be lovely to live in one. I like the house in that movie, too!

Have a great week!
Pat
