Well the Summer holidays are in full swing here! This Summer we are going to stay home and do some home improvements, and today we started repainting the house & roof. We'll keep the same colours, but will respray them to freshen things up. The colour of the house is called French Vanilla, and the colour of the roof is called Madagascar Blue (it's a Jacaranda bluey/lilacy colour. And being that the Jacaranda trees are my favourite, and our roof is that colour, now you know how I came to call my blog Jacaranda Cottage!). Anyway, today I am going to leave you with some photo's of where we spent our Summer vacation last year, on an island called Daydream Island, which is a part of the Whitsunday Islands, Queensland, Australia. We were here for a month over Christmas and New Year. The hotel was decorated for a tropical Christmas. The big thing on the wall that looks like a huge painting, is actually a fish tank built into the wall and full of tropical fish, just like in Finding Nemo. It's a gorgeous place to stay. Tomorrow I'll show some more photo's of our time up there as I think they're nicer photo's to look at rather than my paint cans and paint stained hands! lol Ok, break's over...............back to painting I go!

Hi Amanda
Sounds like you must like the cold if you like Victoria in Winter. How glorious that holiday at Daydream Island must have been though, lucky you! I must say I would probably miss the seasons if I left here though even if I do whinge about winter down here!
well if you do move down to Victoria, you are most welcome to drop in for a cuppa, would love to meet you!
Alicia
Thanks for coming by to visit. loveley pictures.
Good Morning Amanda,
Oh my, those pictures are breathtaking. Sounds like a beautiful place in Daydream Island. The first picture of the pool and the mountains in the back is just so beautiful. I love the picture with the Christmas Tree. I am just overwhelmed at how beautiful things are there. It's always nice to know how different places celebrate Christmas and how they decorate. Hubby is feeling a tad better, but at night is when it really bothers him. I'm feeling a tad better as well. Well, take care my friend and have a great Sunday. May God Bless You and Yours.
Hugs,
Karen H.
Sounds like a good summer planned....full of fun and accomplishment. I am daydreaming on my blog today. too. Seems the "I wish it were spring" bug has hit early this year.
Dream Island looks and sounds wonderful! Hopefully by looking at beautiful warm photos I can forget that I have lost my houseshoes and my feet are freezing...LOL!
Have fun painting:)

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around "summer holidays" being that we have just had eight inches of snow! Hope you enjoy every minute of it! Daydream Island sounds really good to me about now! Love, your friend "up over" - Esther
I love fish aquariums...I wish I could have a huge one...with someone to do the upkeep...fish poop makes me gag...lol!
Have a great summer! =)
Absolutely breathtaking! And I'm not too proud to admit that I'm a little jealous of the hot weather. The older I get, the less I can stand the cold.
Love,
Julie
p.s. - have fun painting!!
Happy summer, Amanda! How funny to read about having Christmas during the summertime over there. I just can't imagine how that must be, but I guess y'all are used to it. Pretty pics!
Happy holidays!
Rhoda
