It's gotta be in the gene's!

May I brag on my Precious Princess for just a little bit. I wanted to let her, and everyone else, know just how proud we are of our young teen daughter. I have taken some photo's of her bedroom to share with you today to show you just how neat & tidy she always is. Every weekend she's in there cleaning, dusting & re-arranging her space. One True Love often says to me "What's going on in there?! Why does she clean her room so often?" All I can say to him is that I completely understand her enthusiasm and desire to clean & organize because "it must be in the gene's!" lol Those of you who have visited me before will know what I'm talking about.....wink wink.

First off let me explain that Precious Princess' room is quite small, so she has learnt to be efficient with her space. We love nothing more than spending the odd Saturday walking around IKEA getting ideas for small space living. The house we had before this one was fairly big with large bedrooms, so it's been an adjustment for sure, but she's taken to it like a duck to water.

This is the only bedroom in the house that doesn't have a built in wardrobe, so trusting Precious Princess to choose what she wanted for her room, we trotted of to IKEA for the compact wardrobe you can see in the photo. In the wardrobe she has all her everyday clothes. In the storage boxes under the bed (the striped ones) she has all her dance wear in one box and all her pool/beach clothes in the other box. The long white zipper bag holds winter coats. In the second photo, the cane chest with the padded seat under the air/con, used to be used for toys when she was little, but it's now used to hold all her jumpers/sweaters & jeans. Everyday clothes in the wardrobe, lesser used items in the storage areas. On the bottom of the wardrobe she keeps her often worn shoes, and in a big container in our hall closet, we store less often worn shoes & shoes that need special care (like nice high heels etc) and keep them in their original boxes.

When we bought this house 3 years ago, Precious Princess wanted a PINK room. She got it and it does look gorgeous in person (the photo's don't do it justice). Now her tastes have changed and she would like an all white room. So this Christmas holidays we will be painting the walls white and painting the window sill and trim on the bottom of the walls, a lovely light lemon colour. We'll buy new curtains (whatever she chooses as I trust her good taste) and new accessories to match. The bedcover is a recent buy and was bought with the new colours in mind, so it will stay.

So there you have it. Our girl is pretty good for an almost 14 year old don't you agree? Love you Princess! Thank you for being such a wonderful daughter xxxxxxx

WOW! I'm impressed, I could take a few lessons from your daughter. She certainly does have your family's genes and you are a wise Mom to trust her and let her follow her instincts:)

Hello...I'm new to your blog and just wanted to say I love your bright and colorful way with your posts.

Her room is precious. I wish my daughter had been as neat when she lived at home...she did not pick up my "clean and pretty gene" at all while she was a teenager...as a matter of fact I would shut the door to her room and pray noone would open it...lol!

You have a wonderful day!

She has an adorable room, I love it! I have raised two daughters of my own. One is 19 and very messy! I tried! Really I did! Then there is the 16 year old. She is much more like your Princess, always rearranging her room and tidying things up!
Daughters are such a delight!

IKEA RULZ! I so miss living near one. We are traveling near one in March and I've already told hubby that we will be making a long pit stop. The car carrier will be empty on top of the car just for that stop!

Great room. Thanks for sharing it.

Cheers! La
